10 Tips for Better Fitness
Sort

1. Every martial artist should develop a fitness program that involves basic fitness themes: strength, flexibility and endurance. Make it a point to have your exercise program include all three and ensure an overall better level of health and fitness for you.
2. Always start a fitness program by checking with your physician. Ask before you begin, especially if you are under a doctor’s care for a chronic illness.
3. Create a plan with realistic and measurable goals. Begin slowly and do not over exert yourself.
4. Wear clothing that will not hinder your movements and proper shoes that provide support, not only will you feel good but you will perform better also.
5. Exercising with a friend can make your routine fun and you both can motivate each other, resulting in more consistent dedication to the workout.
6. Make the commitment to exercise just as you would a doctor or business appointment. Practice makes habits. Prepare for your workout the night before by packing your gym bag or if you workout at home, lay out your cloths so when you get up or get home, you’ll be ready to go.
7. Variety is the spice of life, change your workout from time to time (about every other month) to prevent boredom and to keep your body challenged, don’t allow your body to settle into a routine.
8. Eat regularly throughout the day so you don’t get faint during your workout. Drink plenty of fluids, water is a must! Drink water before during and after your workout.
9. Walk to your destinations when possible. Avoid escalators and take the stairs. Turning off the TV can add a few additional hours to your day making time for other activities.
10. Find an exercise that you enjoy, this is crucial to your long-range fitness program. Set daily and weekly goals by writing them down. Reward yourself when you reach milestones.
